Pink October – a month about information, prevention, and supporting women
October turns pink to remind us how important information, prevention, and support are for women going through the experience of breast cancer.
Pink October – International Breast Cancer Awareness Month – brings to the forefront each year the importance of accurate information, recommended medical check-ups, and support for those diagnosed.
For Belher, this month holds a special significance. Beyond beauty, hair is for many women an important part of their identity and how they recognize themselves in the mirror. When oncological treatments cause changes to the hair, access to accurate information and tailored hair solutions can contribute to daily comfort.
What does Pink October mean?
Pink October is an international campaign dedicated to raising awareness about breast cancer.
Throughout October, organizations, medical institutions, communities, and brands around the world contribute to spreading a common message: information and attention to health matter.
The foundation of this month is not fear, but information.
Every woman needs access to reliable medical sources and the opportunity to discuss with her doctor about individual risk factors, symptoms, screening, and the investigations appropriate for her situation.

Beyond the diagnosis, there is a woman who continues to be herself
The oncological experience is not limited to treatments and consultations.
There are also changes in daily life.
For some patients, one of the most visible changes can be the temporary hair loss associated with certain oncological treatments. Not all treatments cause hair loss and the experience differs from person to person, but when it does occur, the change can also have a significant emotional component.
Hair can mean femininity, personal style, familiarity, and continuity.
That is why, when a woman is looking for a medical wig for the period of oncological treatment, the choice should not be reduced only to color or length.
It is important for her to find a solution in which she feels comfortable and which allows her to maintain, as much as she wishes, her personal style.
Pink October: information, empathy, and solidarity
The month of October reminds us that behind the statistics there are people, families, and different stories.
We can talk more about prevention. We can encourage access to accurate medical information. We can listen without assuming what a person undergoing treatment feels. And we can help build spaces where women can ask for help without fear or pressure.
At Belher, we believe that every woman should have the freedom to decide how she wants to look and how she wants to go through this stage.
With a wig or without. With the same look or a completely new one. The choice is hers.
In Pink October, we choose to talk about information, prevention, empathy, and support.
Because beyond the illness is the woman. And beyond the changes she goes through, her identity remains.
